PostHeaderIcon Advantages of staying in a house vs a hotel

July 30th, 2009 Author:

A hotel room in Hawaii is sold at a nightly cost of roughly $175, depending on hotel, room type, occupancy, day of the week, and season.  This high average is much higher than other places around the county, including Los Angeles and other top-tier cities.  A typical island hotel room will offer a comfortable queen bed or two double beds, television, dressers, coffee maker, closet, and bathroom facilities.  While amenities such as ocean-view verandahs, bars, dining rooms, room service, spas, and concierge services may vary from hotel to hotel, the standard room does not change much.  What also doesn’t change much is the scenery.  For the majority of tourists to Hawaii, their view will not face the ocean nor the mountains but rather the hotel or building next door.

Staying in a Hawaii vacation rental affords tourists the opportunity to step outside of the typical hotel and into a nicely-appointed home that typically offers pleasant, often beachfront, views, fully-appointed kitchen, and most likely several beds to sleep on.  Perfect for families that would have otherwise been split into multiple hotel rooms, or for people looking to experience the authentic side of Hawaii, finding a vacation home is definitely an advantage.  By living in a rental home, visitors can barbeque their own food if they want, be as loud as they want, host other guests, enjoy secluded beaches, do laundry on the premises, and have free parking, all of which are non-existent in the run-of-the-mill Hawaii hotel.

Although Hawaii offers some excellent dining, shopping, and entertainment opportunities, one of the most popular attractions among tourists is Hawaii’s beaches. With soft, brilliant white sand beaches and clear, pristine water, many of Hawaii’s beaches rank among the best in the world. However, some of these beautiful beaches are generally hidden from the public and accessible only by helicopter or boat. Nevertheless, Hawaii never fails to provide its residents and guests with an amazing day at the beach.

One of the most popular beaches on Oahu is Lanikai Beach. Located on the northeast coast of the island, Lanikai Beach features white sand with a powdered-sugar-like consistency and clear, blue waters. This beach is also popular for kayaking, outrigger canoeing, sailing, surfing, and windsurfing, with many of these activities available to tourists via rental shops nearby. Another popular beach is Hanauma Bay, which is also located on Oahu. Situated at the base of a dormant volcano on Oahu’s southeastern coast, Hanauma Bay offers excellent snorkeling and swimming, with the reefs located offshore teeming with marine life. Some other beaches that you may want to check out include Hanalei Bay Beach, Poipu Beach and Ke’e Beach Park on Kauai, Kapalua Bay Beach and Kaanapali Black Rock Beach on Maui, and Hapuna Beach State Park on the Big Island.

Diamond Head is one of Hawaii’s most prolific icons and graces the island of Oahu’s south shore. Known to Native Hawaiians as Leahi, the volcanic tuff cone received its current name after British sailors noted calcite crystals embedded in the mountainside and mistook them for diamonds. Part of the Koolau Volcanic eruptions that created the eastern half of Oahu, Diamond Head today is a defining feature of the Waikiki shoreline and is preserved as a United States Monument. Fort Ruger, the first United States military reservation in the state, is located inside of the Diamond Head crater.

A beautiful hike will take tourists to the peak and affords those who make it to a top a gorgeous 360-degree panoramic view of the deep blue seas below, the green mountains to the north, and sometimes long-distance vistas as far as the islands of Molokai and Lanai.

A lot of real estate in Hawaii takes advantage of this natural beauty, making for an immeasurable island living experience. No where else in the world can one climb dried out mountain cliffs, swim in the warm blue seas, sun on sandy beaches, and explore green forests within such a small area. Diamond Head, one of the most recognizable places in Hawaii, truly graces the sights of Hawaii with its beauty and prestige.
